Artist Julia Elmore who created the Downing Street mailart piece to go with Positively Postal's interview with Tony Benn also very kindly offered to produce mailart for Blackpool Tower. Thank you very much again Julia for saving the day and here's what she had to say about making this particular piece.

"Scott, I've done it... I am covered in glue, my 2 year old is at the table with me, working on his own piece of art, he is also blue with paint, sticky and handling sequins, but it's finished.

Blackpool Tower... a childhood trip to the circus there with my family. As a child, I remember Dad used to go up to Blackpool once a year for the magic convention there. Blackpool for me is a big beach with sea far, far away, the Pleasure Beach with the best Ghost Train I can recall, getting soaked on the log flume, Blackpool Tower circus, performing budgies and special family time, driving along the seafront in the dark, enjoying the illuminations.

The circle design is inspired by an old poster for Blackpool Tower Circus. The sequins represent the twinkling lights and the words reflect my childhood memories.

Glue is still wet. I will pop it in the post when dry."

Katerina is a painter and mail artist living and working in Thessaloniki, Greece. She was born in Chicago, USA, and she received her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Chicago, also. She has been a professor of art at the American Colleges in Istanbul and in Thessaloniki. She retired in 2010, after 25 years of teaching at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, where she was awarded a Doctorate in Art Education. Ms. Nikoltsou is a member of the Greek Chamber of Artists and SKETBE, the Artists' Association of Northern Greece. She has had 14 solo art exhibits and has participated in more than 75 group exhibits. She continues to work in abstract acrylic paintings and mixed-media collages and assemblages.

Blackpool Tower....NOT Eiffel! If you visit Lancashire, England, you may think you are in Paris. What is that I see on the Lancashire skyline? Oh, can it be the Eiffel Tower, here too? Silly girl, there are many "towers" in the world! This is the Blackpool Tower of Lancashire, 1894. All the more lovely, ol' chap!
