Postal Pieces
Saturday (2nd) saw the introduction of Positively Postal's Postal Pieces, stamps or other postally related bits and pieces which I have come across in my regular contact with the postal system. Here we have three rather cute International Post stamps from Australia featuring that most Australian of bears, the Koala and postmarked with a pretty clear pictorial dolphin themed Coffin Bay postmark.

Postal Pieces for the 3rd July features four stamps of the same value to mark the Opening Ceremony of The Guanhzhou Asian Games in 2010, used to send in a postcard through Postcrossing from China.

Positively Postal went all 4th July on Monday with Postal Pieces showing a postcard of Mount Rushmore sent in (from Germany!) through Postcrossing.

"Airmail", a wonderful piece of Mailart for Tuesday's(5th) Postal Pieces, sent in by Laura(spopod on Mailart365) from the USA and the stamps, both official and her own creations, used to send it in, many thanks!

This rather wonderful piece of mailart from Katerina in Greece arrived the other day in time for Postal Pieces to share it here on July 6th, cleverly made using sandpaper and Katerina's 227th(yes, 227th! at the time of writing)) piece of mailart in the Mailart365 project, very impressive! She's also way ahead as testified by the date of July 14th, phew Positively Postal has a lot of catching up to do! I've also shown the outer envelope with two recent Greek stamps and the rubber stamps used to decorate it, many thanks for this Katerina.

Postal Pieces from (7th) shows a postcard sent by my friend Tony showing a scene from Vid Stora Sjöfallets National Park in Norway and the Norwegian stamp used to send it in.

Detail of “Lyset ved pinsetider” by Irma Salo Jæger
Irma Salo Jaeger (b. 1928 in Finland) has been a major figure in Norwegian art since the 1960s. She studied art in Munich, Oslo and Florence after taking a degree in art history in Helsinki. She is regarded as one of the greatest exponents of abstract painting in Norway, and her debut coincided with the breakthrough of this form of expression around 1960. Her paintings are characterised by clearly demarcated areas of intense, bright colour, often blues, reds and oranges. Irma Salo Jaeger held a professorship at Statens Kunstakademi in Oslo from 1986 until 1992. Her work is presented in a book by art historian Erik Daehlin, which was published in 2002.
The stampmotive is a section of: "Lyset ved pinsetider", 162 x 200cm.

Postal Pieces(for the 8th July) ventured over to Kerry in Ireland to bring you this rather cool green postbox, well actually my friend Bob did so all credit and thanks to him for this great postal photo.
